'Bringer of Clouds & Rain' is the Chinese euphemism for 'Lady of the Night'. But why has Maxine been branded in this cruel way by the very man with whom she has fallen so deeply in love?
Betrayed by her fiance, Jonathan, Maxine is whisked off to Hong Kong on a lottery prize holiday with the handsome but mysterious Adam Warwick. Together, they discover the delights of Hong Kong.....and each other.
A visit to a temple soothsayer reveals to Maxine an intriguing future. Surely it includes love? But then, who is the beautiful Eurasian girl with whom Adam spends so much time? And what are the secrets he keeps so carefully hidden?
When Jonathan re-appears on the scene, there follows a maelstrom of mixed emotions and misunderstandings, culminating in the ultimate insult: Bringer of Clouds and Rain.
